Razor is quickly becoming a well-known brand, and for good reasons.
Drift trikes from Razor have given both young kids as well as adults adrenalin kicks for some time now.
If you’ve had the chance to try one of their products you certainly understand why.
And if you haven’t, you may at least have heard som great things about this gravity drift trike.
So lets find out if it lives up to the hype in this Razor DXT drift trike review.
Razor DXT Drift Trike Review
This is a best-seller on Amazon with tons of great reviews. Most of the user reviews praise this gravity drift trike with only a few minor complaints. We will go through every feature and aspect of this trike in this Razor DXT Drift Trike Review.
Since this model became so incredibly popular among both kids and adults, it inspired Razor to build their two electric-powered drift trikes. They have the Razor Power Rider 360 model for the younger drifters and the Razor DXT Electric Drift Trike for the older audience.
The Power Rider has been a huge success, you can read a full review here, while Razor have had some issues with their Electric DXT model.
So what makes this drift trike so great, and is there anything that could need improving? Lets find out.
The low-gravity, moto-style constructed frame is made from Stainless steel for strength and durability. It allows you to drift around in the snow without worrying about any rust.
This gravity drift trike is equipped with platform pedals that are mounted on a free-wheel. That allows you to gain speed on a flat surface as well as riding downhill without ever having to lift your feet from the pedals.
The front free-wheel is a 20 inch bike wheel with great traction. You only want the rear wheels to drift, and believe me, they do.
When you need to brake, you just squeeze your V-brake that is attached to the handlebar. Just like you do on any bicycle.
When Razor designed this gravity drift trike they wanted it to handle a cold winter as well as a hot summer.
The stainless steel frame is resistant to rust and the overall quality of the build makes it perfectly able to handle all the different seasons and weathers.
Age & Weight Limits
The Razor DXT Drift Trike was built to be a bridge between adults and teenagers. Teenagers are not the only ones that love to drift, active parents often get one for themselves so can spend some valuable time with their kids.
Razor has set the recommended age to fourteen years old or 198 lbs. If you weigh above 200 lbs it probably won’t be a problem, a lot of people have said in their reviews on Amazon that it works fine anyway. I can’t recommend breaking the age and weight limits set by Razor though, that has to be on your responsibility.
But many reviews on Amazon talks about height instead of age. Anyone who is 6 feet tall should be able to pedal without a problem.
The thing to consider though, is if your kids have enough sense to be careful when drifting on the streets with their friends. If you are in doubt, you can either take your kids to a traffic-free zone or get one for yourself and ride with them.
The moto-style handle bar is equipped with pro-grips to comfortably rest your hands on. The seat is designed to even out your weight and is adjustable to get a perfect distance to the handlebar.
Package & Assembly
The box your package arrives in weighs about 35-40 lbs. The gravity drift trike itself weighs in at about 32 lbs.
When unpacked you will find an almost assembled drift trike. You get a very clear manual to follow if you feel uncertain, I however had no issues at all assembling it without the manual.
A Great Workout
As any sensible person can imagine, pedaling for a long time is a great workout. What many people might not think about, is that it’s not only good for your general fitness, it is also a great core exercise.
When drifting you are thrown from side to side and it is your core that stabilises your body. Don’t be surprised if you get some sore abs after your first time drifting.
Pros & Cons
Some of the minor complaints have been;
- Braking Power – A few people have complained about the break-strenght weakening after a while. I am just speculating now, but it could be that they haven’t tightened the brake-wire or adjusted the brake-pads properly. I haven’t had any issues with the brakes myself.
- Worn down rear wheels – As you are drifting you are slowly grinding down your plastic drift wheels. It is only natural that they worn down after a lot of use. Luckily, Razor provides replacement tires, so there is no need to buy a new gravity drift trike because of worn-out tires.
The best features of this gravity drift trike are;
- Lightweight – With the light weight and low gravity design it can easily fit in a car when you want to bring it with you.
- Gravity drift trike design – The low gravity makes the trike stable and safe when taking sharp corners.
- Low price, Great quality – Razor has marketed this trike as a premium quality drift trike but priced it in the lower end of the scale. You get a great gravity drift trike at a low-cost.
- Razor – Razor has grown as a company, specializing in adrenalin sports. You know what you get when ordering from a well-known brand.

Razor’s gravity drift trike is comparable to a lot more expensive drift trikes in terms of quality and performance. This is partly because they have cut out the middle-men, selling directly from Amazon at a very competitive price.
